The Upper Mountain Fork River winds through the Ouachita Mountains and is great for its floating and fishing smallmouth bass. The Lower Mountain Fork River, the tail water of Broken Bow Lake, is the most consistently flowing and best whitewater stream in Oklahoma. It is great for a canoe or kayaking adventure. Perfect for fly fishing, the river offers year round rainbow and trout fishing.
Beavers Bend Resort Park offers a variety of activities for adults, children and groups. Fly fishing clinics, guided horseback rides, hayrides, golf, miniature golf, archery, tennis, and paddle boats are just some of the activities you can partake of at the park. ***For the most up to date information regarding regulations, fees and licenses, please see the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
Hunting
McCurtain County is a hunter’s paradise. Abundant with native species the rugged unharmed public lands offer something for every hunter. Located in the southern part of the county, Red Slough and Little River National Wildlife Refuge offer some of the finest waterfowl hunting in Oklahoma. Some of the largest concentrations of eastern-strain turkey in the state are in the area. Deer are prolific along with squirrel, raccoon, cottontails, swamp rabbits, coyote, bobcat, opossum, gray fox, and beaver. While not yet plentiful, quail can be found on the outskirts of timber harvest sites and thinned pine plantations. You can enjoy all of this while staying in one of our Broken Bow cabins.
All Oklahoma state hunting regulations, fees, and seasons apply on public land in McCurtain County. Hunting is not permitted on state park property. Hunting guides are available at most visitor centers and wherever hunting and fishing licenses are sold. You can find more information and buy permits online at the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
ATVs
If you want to ride on US Forest Service property there is no extra permit required. Three Rivers W.M.A. trails are not available year round and require a deer hunting license to ride. All ATV related regulations are subject to change. Riders should check with the U.S. Forest Service OHV site for the latest updates.
ATV Rules – Rules prohibit two riders on a vehicle unless it is designed for two. Most “straddle type” ATVs are designed for only one rider. ATVs with bench seats can have more than one rider. Riders under 16 years of age must wear a helmet. ATV riding is not permitted in our cabin neighborhood.
